A technician practices repairing LHC magnet interconnects prior to executing the work in the tunnel during the long shut down. The blue resin was used during the LHC installation to secure the local insulation of the 600A joints passing above the main splices of the quadrupole circuits (RQ circuits, 13kA). The existing insulation has to be removed and will be replaced by an improved insulation system. There are 1695 interconnects to consolidate during LS1, each containing two lines as shown on the picture.
