With a result presented at the International Workshop on the CKM Unitarity Triangle, CKM2014, Vienna, Austria, LHCb has made a significant new contribution to the measurement of the angle γ in the triangle under the spotlight – the “CKM triangle” linked to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix that describes the mixing of the six quarks in the Standard Model. On 12 September, the LHCb collaboration presented a combination of measurements for this angle, which for the first time a single experiment yield a precision of better than 10 degrees.
