Adjoint QCD in 2d is a prominent toy model for studying the physics of confinement. I'll discuss the behavior of its set of couplings (in particular the four-fermi couplings) as one goes from short distances to long distances, and the implications for confinement. I will also discuss the extent to which one can neglect some of the couplings, which depends on the short-distance definition of the theory, and may have implications for numerical lattice explorations of this field theory.
