The 8th Physics Week of the ALICE Collaboration will take place in Padova, Italy from 19-24 May 2013.

The aim of the meeting is to review and discuss the ongoing analyses and the future prospects of the ALICE physics programme. In the course of the week the latest results from all the Physics Working groups will be presented and discussed covering the analysis of Pb-Pb, pp and p-Pb data.

The forthcoming ALICE Physics Week includes the following sessions:

  • A session for each of the eight Physics Working Groups (PWGs)
  • An ALICE Ideas in Motion (AIM) session
  • A special session, in the afternoon of Wednesday 22 May, with a few invited theory talks and a lecture on Galileo Galilei.

The event will take place in the Centro Culturale San Gaetano, in Padova city centre (via Altinate 71). On Wednesday 22 May a special event is organized around the figure Galileo who lived in Padova from 1592 to 1610, teaching geometry, mechanics and astronomy at the university. His original teaching desk can be seen at the entrance of the University Aula where the event will take place (via VIII febbraio 2). It should also be noted that an Analysis Tutorial session will be held in the afternoon of Friday 24 May in the Aula Magna of the Physics and Astronomy Department, (via Marzolo 8).

Finally, the ALICE Ideas in Motion session is dedicated to short presentations of proposals for qualitatively new analyses, new views on the published ALICE and LHC papers in the sense of horizontal synthesis. Guy Paic and Karel Safarik who are the organizers of this session welcome participation with new ideas as "Participation is the key to ALICE success".
