Document Management Systems – Guidelines

Over the years, CERN’s workflows and activities have resulted in a variety of software solutions being used to manage, store and track digital records. Based on an analysis of the document management systems (DMSs) currently used at CERN, the recently published Document Management Systems document aims to provide users with guidelines to help match their needs with the features and functionalities of the DMSs supported by CERN. The list of DMSs included in the document was approved by the Steering Group on Externally Provided Software, Systems, Hardware and Services (STEPS) in October 2024. Any future requests that cannot be satisfied by the services listed must be reviewed against the existing capabilities and workflows, evaluated by the STEPS Technical Committee and approved by STEPS before any additional document management systems are introduced.
