HiRadMat: a high-power beam facility at CERN

Where:

774/R-013 at CERN

Abstract:

"HiRadMat is a unique facility at CERN, providing a high-energy, high-intensity, LHC-type beam to study beam–matter interactions under extreme conditions. Since the start of operations in 2012, the facility has hosted more than 50 experiments, ranging from material R&D for accelerator components to beam diagnostics and experimental astrophysics, and now serves as CERN’s reference test beam facility for high-intensity studies. As a result, many components currently in use at CERN and at accelerator facilities worldwide were first tested at HiRadMat.

This talk will introduce the history and evolution of HiRadMat, outline the experimental workflow and operational limitations, present key experimental highlights from past campaigns and their impact, and discuss the future of the facility."
